The Visiting Nurse Service of New York was founded in 1893 to provide care to New York City’s poor. VNS CHOICE was introduced 105 years later, and builds upon the organization’s mission of caring for people with complex health needs.

The Visiting Nurse Service of New York has a long tradition of offering innovative solutions to New Yorkers in need of quality home health care. In the 1990s, VNS CHOICE began as a new community-based long term care plan, designed to help people remain in their homes as an alternative to care in a nursing home. Our Medicare Advantage plans were launched in 2007.

Today, VNS CHOICE offers five health plans: two Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans, one Medicare Advantage plan that is available to almost anyone in NYC who has Medicare, a Managed Long Term Care alternative, and a highly specialized plan that integrates the benefits of our Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans and our Managed Long Term Care plan.
