Option 1

VNS CHOICE Medicare Option 1 covers all of the services you receive under Original Medicare, plus your Medicare prescription drug coverage. VNS CHOICE also provides several terrific benefits, including a Care Manager who will assist you with all of the medical care you need and help you with other benefits and services for which you may be eligible.

VNS CHOICE Medicare Option 1 also offers unique benefits to members, including:

  • No or low co-payments on prescription drugs, plus coverage through the gap,
  • Routine eye exams and $120 toward eyeglass frames and lenses every year,
  • 4 routine podiatry visits,
  • An annual physical,
  • $1,200 in services toward medical care while traveling outside the United States.

Plus, Option 1 members receive $25 per month for over-the-counter health products and medications, including antacids, first aid supplies, medications for allergies and colds, vitamins, and many others. Learn more about this benefit and how you can order the products you need for delivery to your home. Or print out the order form and mail it in.

In addition, members of Option 1 will receive a new benefit for 2010: Caregiver Respite. People with chronic illnesses who need daily help can be at risk for placement in a nursing home without ongoing assistance. This plan option offers in-home support to members so that their primary caregiver can take care of personal business or attend a family event that is out of town. VNS CHOICE Medicare Option 1 (HMO) provides 7 days of caregiver respite services per year, providing members and their families with the secure feeling that comes from knowing you are in capable hands.
